Learn Chinese: Language Programs at UIBE

This program is divided into preliminary, intermediate and advanced levels, with each level further divided into 3 sub-levels. The curriculum includes comprehensive, listening, speaking and reading courses. Students can improve their Chinese communication skills through trainings of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

PROGRAM FEATURE

• Students will be grouped into different classes at appropriate levels, according to their interview results on registration day.
• Learning efficiency will be raised and lectures will be varied by the application of language lab and multi-media teaching equipment.
• Colorful language-practicing activities are held regularly, such as Chinese song singing contests, speech contests and essay writing contests.
• Free trips to famous scenic spots and historic sites will be organized for students to experience Chinese culture.
• Through combination of classroom teaching and extra-curriculum activities, students’ understanding of Chinese history, culture and national conditions will be enhanced as well as their Chinese communication skills will be improved.
• All the students can apply to enjoy free experiential learning through “Business Chinese Self-study and Self-evaluation System”.

Business Chinese is one of the most important training programs in UIBE, and it fully reflects the academic characteristics and distinctive advantages. This program is divided into five levels. According to different levels of Chinese language skills, the program arranges corresponding courses including Business Chinese, Business Chinese Speaking, Listening and Reading.

PROGRAM FEATURE

• This program is designed for needs of business and cultural communication between China and foreign countries. It is suitable for students who have certain Chinese study backgrounds, and who are interested in business knowledge and Chinese business hot topics.
• This program elaborately selects authoritative business Chinese textbooks and adopts flexible teaching approaches. It is the integration of knowledge, practicability and communication.
• All the students can apply to enjoy free experiential learning through “Business Chinese Self-study and Self-evaluation System”.
• The program organizes students to go out for sightseeing, pay visits to scenic spots and historical monuments and experience Chinese culture.
• The program also arranges free visits for students to Chinese companies, transnational corporations, social institutions and living communities. With the effective combination of course study and practical activities, students can get the further understanding of China’s economic situation and business environment and improve their business Chinese communication skills.

UIBE is the fi­rst university in China to start the intensive Chinese language training program. Through scienti­fic and high-intensity curriculum arrangement and unique flexible inside and outside class teaching approaches, the program helps student make great progress in their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in a short term.

Program Feature

1. It presents the combination of collective and individualized teaching, and integration of classroom teaching and extra-curricular activities.
2. Students can improve Chinese language abilities rapidly through large amount of learning materials, dense knowledge points and high-intensity training.
3. The program also adopts relatively closed management mode to help students avoid the mother tongue interference, and quickly improve Chinese communication skills.
4. The program arranges targeted reviews and previews strictly based on the teaching plans.

6. The program monthly organizes students to attend the language practices like Chinese Corner, debating contest, and speech contest; the program also arranges students for sightseeing to Chinese scenic spots and historical monuments and museums, visiting the enterprises and communities, and experiencing the Chinese culture and cuisines.

Through one academic year or only one spring semester’s full-time study in foundation course, students can improve their abilities in Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing, English and mathematics, and finally achieve the entry level of Bachelor’s programs offered in Chinese at UIBE.

Program Feature

1. Students will be divided into different levels and classes according to their interview results. Teaching contents and methods will be adjusted based on different training tasks and objectives of each semester.
2. The program sets Chinese language courses including listening, speaking, reading and writing, and combines with HSK remedial courses and simulation tests.
3. According to academic characteristics and requirements of Bachelor’s programs in UIBE, the program also sets mathematics and English courses to promote students’ comprehensive abilities.
4. All the students can apply to enjoy free experiential learning through “Business Chinese Self-study and Self-evaluation System”.
5. Students shall take the regular tests each month in spring semester, and switch classes according to the test results, which can arouse students’ learning passion. Excellent students will move up to Bachelor’s programs directly.

Conditions of Moving up to Bachelor’s Programs

Students in foundation course can move up to Bachelor’s programs directly if they:

2. Meet appropriate requirements in three monthly tests of spring semester.

2. The program makes full use of various training methods to improve students’ Chinese    application ability through abundant lectures and practices.
3. According to different requirements of each learning stage, the program provides a series of auxiliary trainings, including listening, speaking, Chinese characters, pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary, so as to improve students’ Chinese communication skills from different aspects. The program sets up Q&A self-study course every week to help students review or preview.
4. According to academic characteristics and requirements of Bachelor’s programs in UIBE, the program also sets mathematics and English courses to promote students’ comprehensive abilities.
5. All the students can apply to enjoy free experiential learning through “Business Chinese Self-study and Self-evaluation System”.
6. Students shall take the regular tests each month in spring semester, and excellent students will move up to Bachelor’s programs directly.

The program systematically o­ffers theories and cases about China’s economy, trade, finance, law and social culture. It aims to allow students of high proficiency in Chinese to acquire the latest and the most comprehensive knowledge of related fields in a short period. The program is divided into two sub-programs (A and B), Program A starts in fall semester and Program B in spring. 3A Speed-up Program for Business Chinese Listening & Speaking (”3A” means Anybody, Anytime, and Any topic), is a language training program offered by School of International Education of University of International Business and Economics (UIBE-SIE) for international students who have the demand for relevant language skills and other foreigners across all industries especially in the field of trade and business in China. Furthermore, 3A Program is a practical and efficient learning shortcut for students who have no Chinese reading and writing background, and only want to have or improve Chinese listening and speaking abilities.

Program Feature

1. The program adequately reflects distinctive features of UIBE in the field of Business Chinese language training, and assembles disciplines advantages and professional faculty.
2. The program will rapidly improve learners’ Business Chinese communication skills through flexible course arrangement, unconstrained learning period, and concise and highly-efficient teaching method, which is an ideal choice for foreigners who only can study Chinese in their spare time.
3. Students also can take part in all kinds of extracurricular activities for UIBE international students, such as International Cultural Festival, Chinese Debating Competition, Laowai Idol Competition, Top Ten Campus Singers Competition, etc.

Training Object: The program is suitable for foreigners who want to rapidly improve Chinese listening and speaking communication skills like sta­ffs in embassies, consulates and foreign companies and foreign businessmen in China, and for international students that have the demand for relevant language skills.

Training Content: The program mainly involves various practical topics related to economic trade and business activities in the fields of economics, finance, trade, diplomacy, law, corporate operation, public relations, and business etiquette and so on.

Class Scale: The 3A program applies the microteaching system with each class less than 6 students; students also could choose the topics that they are interested in and freely combine the class. The program will open after 3 students have applied

Schedule (One class hour lasts 60 minutes, students can choose the study period randomly.)

Students could apply on site, by email or by phone and start the program at any time except for national holidays. The program will be open after 3 students have applied.

Course Duration and Tuition: Students could buy the study card and freely choose study periods. One study card includes 10 class hours. It must be used within 4 weeks; otherwise, the remaining class hours will be invalid.

2. Tuition: RMB 120/class hour. One study card includes 10 class hours and costs RMB 1,200.
3. Students should buy one study card at the ­first time to apply the program. After the class hours have been used, students need to buy study card again (The application fee is eliminated this time).

Favorable Terms: Students who have registered for degree or non-degree programs in UIBE will get discount. The price for 1 academic hour is RMB 100, and one study card costs RMB 1,000 and can be used 10 times. The application fee is also eliminated.
