The Agreement between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Solomon Islands on the Mutual Exemption of Visas for Citizens Holding Ordinary Passports will come into effect on December 28, 2024. According to the agreement, citizens holding valid ordinary Chinese passports or valid ordinary Solomon Islands passports are exempt from visas when entering, exiting or transiting the territory of the other contracting party for a single stay of no more than 30 days and a cumulative stay of no more than 90 days in every 180 days. If you need to stay in the territory of the other contracting party for more than 30 days, or a cumulative stay of more than 90 days in every 180 days, or engage in work, study, settlement, news reporting and other activities in the territory of the other contracting party that require prior approval from the competent authorities of the other contracting party, you must apply for the corresponding visa before entering the other contracting party. If you cannot leave the country within the visa-free stay period specified in the agreement due to force majeure, you must apply to the local competent authority for an extension of your stay period with relevant supporting documents.
Previously, the governments of China and Solomon Islands have signed the Agreement on the Mutual Exemption of Visas for Holders of Diplomatic, Official, Public Service and Public Service Ordinary Passports in 2022, and holders of relevant passports of both sides can enter each other’s country without a visa for a stay of no more than 30 days.
