Qianwen ride-hailing is now officially live. On March 23, 2026, Alibaba’s Qianwen AI announced the launch of its built-in ride-hailing capability. Users can now book a car, select a vehicle type, add waypoints, and set pickup times — all through a single natural-language sentence.
How Qianwen Ride-Hailing Works
The feature understands complex, conversational requests. Simply tell Qianwen what you need. It handles the rest.
For example:
- “We’re a family of 6 heading to Shichahai for sunset.” → Qianwen detects the passenger count and automatically matches a commercial van.
- “Going to the hospital, passenger is unwell, needs a steady driver.” → The system prioritizes drivers with smooth driving records and can relay a message — like “please open the windows before pickup” — directly to the driver.
Beyond standard bookings, the system also supports personalized requirements such as:
- “Air-fresh car, price under ¥30”
- “Smooth driving style”
- “Driver with good service ratings”
Waypoints and Mid-Trip Adjustments via Qianwen Ride-Hailing
The ride-hailing function supports flexible waypoint management. Before a trip starts, users can say: “Take me to West Lake’s Turtle Pond — and drop a friend at the North Gate of Xixi Wetlands along the way.” Qianwen automatically adds the waypoint.
Moreover, mid-trip adjustments also work the same way. One sentence is all it takes, even after the ride has begun.
Memory and Scheduling: Qianwen Ride-Hailing Remembers You
This is arguably the most useful feature. Once a user shares their home and office addresses with Qianwen, future bookings become effortless. Just say “book me a ride home” or “get me a car to the office” — no address entry needed.
Scheduling works in natural language too. For instance, say “I get off work at 6:30 PM — book me a car home”, and the system understands the time and completes the reservation automatically.
Payment Through Alipay AI Pay
After the trip, users complete payment directly via Alipay AI Pay — no manual app switching required. The entire booking-to-payment flow stays within Qianwen’s interface.
Part of Alibaba’s Broader AI Service Ecosystem
Qianwen ride-hailing operates within Alibaba’s broader AI task ecosystem. Backed by Alibaba’s integrated platform capabilities, Qianwen already supports multi-scenario services such as flight booking, hotel reservations, and now ride-hailing — all within a single conversational AI interface.
Furthermore, this launch follows the Spring Festival period, during which Qianwen’s “one-sentence ordering” feature completed nearly 200 million real transactions (IT之家, 2026).
